Before you get all pissed off and offended, let me say that I'm really really smart so I suck too. When I first started on Xanga not real long ago, it seemed like a nice place with lots of intelligent people who I thought would be fun to read. I subscibed to many smart people. I could tell that they were smart because they used long sentences with complex combinations of words and seemed to be self assured in the fact that they could explain everything to everybody and that their opinions and observations were obviously the only correct ones which meant that they, from the platform of superior knowledge and insight, were obligated to correct the errors and foibles of those who were less intellectually refined than themselves. Then I noticed that they sucked. They were arrogant pretentious buttplug know-it-alls worshippig their own mental processes and spewing out their "enlightened" opinions for all the world to see. So I deleted them all. This means that none of them will read this, but that's ok because even if they did, they would think I was talking about somebody else. Self worship is one of the afflictions of the human race and people with developed and efficient intellects are at the top of the heap in this area. I now subscribe only to people with kind hearts who are wise.
When I was young, I was impressed by smart people. Also, when I was young, I had the idea that smart people, or any people that were good at things, were, by nature, good people. Boy was I wrong. Not only are smart people not nice, but they can be a lot not nicer than dumb people simply because they are smart - they can use their impressive intellectual powers to manifest more subtle and sneaky ways to fuck with other people than dumb people can. Look at the Federal Reserve, the world banking cartels, world leaders and the people who run the big corporations. Smart people all, and they're good at numbers too. They control the lives of all the people on the planet. They decide on the trickle of income we get from our jobs, just enough to keep us on the treadmill, but never enough to get anywhere. And if you are able to get ahead, they've got you so brainwashed through advertising that you spend all your money on crap you don't need, which they have convinced you that you do need, so you end up giving your hard earned money back to them. This shit didn't happen all by itself - somebody thought it all up. God didn't do it to us. Life didn't do it to us. Smart people did.
Being very very smart myself, I am tempted to engage in the ever present and relentless back and forth that goes on here between the smart ones and the ones that they are helping to see the light, which, as they see it, is their own opinions. But I resist the temptation because I know that the smart ones already know everything, so there's nothing I could possibly contibute that would be of any value to them.
So where have smart people gotten us? They've invented all kinds of neat stuff and figured out clever ways to entice us into buying it. They've gotten rid of all those nasty diseases that plagued us before we were industrialized and gave us other ones to take their places. They've managed to create an artificial system through the use of oil and its derivatives and electricity which supports billions of people that would otherwise not be here, thereby increasing the amount of waste on the planet to unmanageable levels and producing a toxic environment that is killing life forms, including our own species. Nice going Brainiac.
